Jeera Rice

A perfect cumin rice dish

Ingredients:
1 tbsp oil or ghee
1 tsp cumin seeds
3-4 bay leaves
2 cinnamon sticks
2 black cardamom
400g basmati rice

Spices:
1 tsp salt
1 tsp chilli powder
1 tsp garam masala


Method:
Step 1:
Firstly, heat a pan to medium/high and throw in your oil or ghee, once hot add in the cumin seeds, cardamom seeds, bay leaves and cinnamon sticks cook for a 2-3 minutes.

Step 2: Next, add in the rice (making sure to rinse out the rice until a clear colour in the water is visible)

Step 3: Spices go in next, add in all of the above stir around so all the spices have mixed in well.

Step 4: Next pour in 800ml of water and bring it to a boil before covering with a lid and cooking the rice on medium heat. This will take about 12-13 minutes, once all the water has gone.

Serve the jeera rice with your favourite curry and some fresh coriander.
